What Do Turnover and Wagering Mean in CYL88 Bonus Terms?

Turnover, wagering and rollover are terms that appear in almost every bonus policy. This article explains how they are calculated with several easy-to-follow examples.

Quick answer

Turnover (also called wagering or rollover) is the total amount you must bet before a bonus and its winnings can be withdrawn. Example: a RM50 bonus with a 10x bonus-only requirement means RM500 in bets.

Turnover, wagering and rollover: the same thing

In CYL88 bonus terms and on most other platforms, turnover, wagering and rollover (in Malay, pusing ganti) all mean the same thing: the total amount you need to bet before a bonus, and any winnings from it, can be withdrawn. The requirement is usually written as a multiple, for example “10x” or “15 times turnover”.

It is important to understand that turnover is based on the amount you stake, not the amount you win or lose. If you bet RM10 twenty times, your turnover is RM200 regardless of the result of each round. The CYL88 promotions page gives one short example; this article goes deeper.

Two calculation bases: deposit + bonus or bonus only

The same multiple can produce very different betting totals depending on the basis used. Promotion terms usually state one of these two methods:

Deposit + bonus

The multiple is applied to your deposit plus the bonus. Example: a RM100 deposit + RM100 bonus with a 10x requirement means RM200 × 10 = RM2,000.

Bonus only

The multiple is applied to the bonus amount alone. Example: a RM100 bonus with a 10x requirement means RM100 × 10 = RM1,000.

So “10x” on its own is not enough to judge a promotion. Always look for phrases such as “on deposit plus bonus” or “on the bonus amount” in the terms. If the wording is missing, ask CYL88 customer service before you claim.

Worked examples, step by step

The table below uses purely hypothetical figures to show how the calculation works. These are not actual CYL88 offers; check the current terms in your account.

ScenarioDepositBonusRequirementBasisTotal wagering needed
ARM100RM50 (50%)10xDeposit + bonusRM150 × 10 = RM1,500
BRM100RM50 (50%)10xBonus onlyRM50 × 10 = RM500
CRM200RM200 (100%)15xDeposit + bonusRM400 × 15 = RM6,000
DRM200RM200 (100%)15xBonus onlyRM200 × 15 = RM3,000
ENoneRM10 free credit20xBonus onlyRM10 × 20 = RM200

Compare scenarios C and D: the bonus and the multiple are identical, yet the betting total differs by RM3,000 purely because of the calculation basis. Scenario E shows that even a small free credit comes with conditions, and it is often paired with a maximum withdrawal cap.

Game contribution: not every bet counts equally

Most bonus terms set a contribution percentage for each game category. Slots usually count 100%, while live casino, some table games or certain sports markets may count only partly or be excluded altogether. The figures below are an illustration for a RM1,500 turnover requirement:

CategoryContribution (example)Actual bets needed
Slots100%RM1,500
Live casino20%RM7,500
Excluded games0%Not counted at all

In other words, if your preferred game only counts 20%, you have to bet five times as much to meet the same requirement. For sports, terms sometimes say that bets at very low odds, cancelled bets or refunded results do not count. If you play online slots, also check whether specific titles are excluded from the promotion.

Other things that affect turnover

  • Validity period: turnover not completed before the expiry date usually means the bonus and related winnings are cancelled.
  • Maximum bet: betting above the limit while a bonus is active can void the bonus.
  • Early withdrawal: requesting a withdrawal before the requirement is met usually ends the bonus. Read the CYL88 withdrawal conditions for the full process.
  • Turnover progress: some accounts show the remaining turnover; if yours does not, ask customer service to check it for you.

A realistic view of turnover requirements

A high turnover means more money passing through games that carry a house edge, so the chance of your balance shrinking before the requirement is met is very real. Before claiming a bonus, work out the betting total and ask yourself whether that amount fits your entertainment budget. If it does not, playing without a bonus is often the simpler choice.

Frequently asked questions

Do losing bets count towards turnover?

Yes. Turnover is based on the amount staked, not the result. Losing bets still add to turnover, as long as the game counts under the promotion terms.

How can I check my remaining turnover?

Some accounts show turnover progress in the promotions or wallet section. If there is no display, ask CYL88 customer service to check your remaining turnover through live chat.

Do rebates have a turnover requirement?

Rebates usually have a low turnover requirement or none at all, but this varies by promotion. Always check the current rebate terms.
